The Approach

I truly love teaching guitar, it seems like every student comes into my studio with a unique set of skills, interests and aptitudes. Sometimes, there are also unique issues that they may have, but more commonly, they deal with ubiquitous problems that plague most players. Some of that comes down to the inherent nature of guitar: while physically challenging, its also a challenging instrument to visualize. That can trap guitarists into playing the same old songs, licks and riffs. When students start to understand how the fretboard works, dovetailed with technique and harmonic knowledge, its can be magical. Helping students break through each of those barriers is incredibly rewarding on my end and I tailor my approach to accomplish this in the students’ own idiom.

My goal as a guitar educator is to help my students unlock the true nature of the guitar; the limitless joy of exploration therein, and the fulfillment in committing to a worthy creative practice.
